any roms that contains (!), (E),(U), etc... mess up the metadata searching to IGDB, manually searching the metadata of the rom by removing the GoodTools tag usually solves the issue and provide the proper metadata.

Investigate how current metadata handling works in retrom, specifically the function that sends ROM filenames to IGDB. Look at the GoodTools tag format (e.g. (!), (E), (U)) and implement a sanitization step to strip these tags before the metadata search.
