Description

The volume "formatter" just stomps on the first sector in such a way that no driver but ours will recognize it, and that the driver will know that it has no data on it yet. If I were wiser, I would know the proper way to do this.

Study the structure of a valid volume boot record (VBR) for FAT32 or NTFS. Check the current formatter code that writes the first sector. Ensure the VBR contains the correct signature 0x55AA and necessary BIOS Parameter Block fields. Refer to Microsoft's volume header specifications.
