Hey,

The original request suggested compiling resources such as open-source tools that are not based in the US

example: Libre Office, NextCloud

Shall this still be addressed in a new issue? @jvddorpe

The overview was inteded to highlight non-proprietary and Open Soure options as well as highlight the country of origin/ operations (e.g. Germany/ Europe, USA etc).

The field of application is not restricted, but the tools should be an alternative (or commonly used) in (Micro)biology research settings.
