Description
For 3D inverse design (e.g. for 2PP printing), it is necessary to produce designs which are physically viable and don't have any material floating in the air. Even better, it would be desirable to have designs which are mechanically stable. In mechanical engineering, there are quite a few regularization methods to steer the inverse design process towards these goals:

Implementing and evaluating these methods for photonic inverse design will require some work. If any of the community members have experiences or know research material about this topic, feel free to post it here.
